Thought i'd give a couple tips when cooking turkey. I'm sure that some of you probably know already, but for those who have never cooked a turkey before, here ya go!
1. When refrigerating, allow 5 hours per pound defrosting time
2. In cold water, you need to put the turkey in a container and the turkey should be completely covered with cold water. Change the water at least every hour, allowing one hour per pound to defrost
3. If you are purchasing a frozen, prestuffed turkey, DO NOT THAW! Cook from frozen state and check product label for further instructions.
Hope this helps! |

Here are some tips to cleaning the turkey:
- Remove neck and giblets from body cavity
- Rinse turkey well inside and out with cold water. Thoroughly pat dry with paper towels
- Always wash hands thoroughly in hot soapy water before preparing foods and handling raw meat
- Do not let raw meat juices touch ready-to-eat foods either in the refrigerator or during preparation
- Keep cutting board and utensils in good repair as they can harbour bacteria inside cracks and crevices |

| Kinda common sense, but make sure you wash everything very well so you don't carry any of the bacteria from the turkey to your other food! |
